As general contractor for the renovation of this former bank branch donated to the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan, DVK focused on hiring minority and female-owned subcontractors and suppliers. The DVK team also worked with those subcontractors and suppliers to secure in-kind donations and supplies valued at more than $100,000.

Distinct architectural arcs and radii throughout the building separate space inside and add visual interest outside. The existing bank vault was transformed into a very "safe" kitchenette. A large interior room was designed with flexibility for training, conferencing or public meetings.

Many sustainability features were incorporated into the design. A perimeter rain garden utilizes storm water runoff as irrigation, minimizing the need for retention space. Reflective roof panels were installed over both the existing roof and new spaces to effectivelyeliminate heat gain during the summer.
